Chia seeds have become increasingly popular in recent years and are now considered one of the superfoods par excellence. But what is actually behind these little power seeds and how can you best integrate them into your diet?
Chia seeds are tiny, black seeds that come from the Salvia hispanica plant, which originally comes from Mexico. There, chia seeds were already valued as food by the Maya and Aztecs and used as a source of energy for running, swimming and fighting. Today, they are cultivated worldwide, including in countries such as Bolivia, Paraguay, Argentina and Guatemala.
The small seeds are rich in fiber, protein and omega-3 fatty acids and also contain numerous vitamins and minerals. They are considered true nutrient bombs and are a good source of many important nutrients, especially for vegetarians and vegans.
Chia seeds can be used in many different ways. You can simply sprinkle them over your muesli, mix them into yogurt or smoothies or use them as a binding agent for baked goods. When soaked in liquid, they swell and form a gel-like mass that is a good egg substitute.
Another advantage of chia is that it fills you up for a long time and can therefore be a good aid to losing weight. They are also said to stabilize blood sugar levels and thus prevent cravings.
All in all, chia seeds are a great food that can be integrated into the diet in a variety of ways and offer numerous health benefits.
We at Kündig therefore work closely with our partners in Bolivia and Paraguay to provide you with high-quality chia seeds. In Bolivia, the chia seeds are grown in the Santa Cruz de la Sierra region and then delivered to the high plateau of El Alto for final processing and storage. Our local producer has been certified organic for over a decade, guaranteeing top quality and sustainability.
We also receive high-quality chia seeds from Paraguay. Our partner there produces 5,000 tons of chia every year, primarily for the European market. With their own cultivation and a diverse crop rotation, they attach great importance to the quality of their products. The proximity to a large forest area and the wild bees there provide ideal conditions for pollination. Our producer in Paraguay is continuously investing in improving its production facilities in order to expand capacity and thus ensure even better quality.
Thanks to many years of cooperation with our partners, we can offer you high-quality and sustainably grown chia seeds that are not only of excellent quality for you, but also respect the environment. We are proud to say that our producers are certified organic, kosher, SMETA, Ecovadis and according to a GFSI standard.
So get your hands on these little power grains and take advantage of the many uses of chia seeds.
