Oil cakes, or press cakes as they are also known, are the by-product left after cold-pressing vegetable oils. They are made from the solid residue that remains after the oil has been expressed from seeds and beans. Oil cakes are packed with minerals, protein and fat. They are thus an excellent source of food for livestock. Oil cakes come in various shapes and sizes, such as groats or pellets.
